 Ilana is a fully trained doula and childbirth educator who received her education through Childbirth International. She understands the importance on continuing education, as there is always new information to soak in and new points of view to hear. Ilana believes the birthworker life found her and not the other way around. She always knew she wanted to help others, but never knew what it looked like. After giving birth herself,  Ilana felt there was an important figure missing for her, and many women when it comes to the perinatal period. That is when the lightbulb went off, "become a birthworker!" she thought. Ilana knows first hand the misinformation, no information, and an information overload surrounding pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. She feels called to make sure no other birthing person goes into pregnancy feeling like her and many other people have. That is why genesis was founded, to create space for birthing people to know they are not alone, have options, are heard by their care team, and their bodies respected.
